Accelerator Card by Celoxica
The Accelerator Card by Celoxica high performance computing (HPC) board provides
a complete platform for field programmable gate array (FPGA)-based
acceleration of software algorithms for the most compute intensive
applications such as our solution for accelerating the capture of
data from market feeds with low latency and high bandwidth.
Until now, the application of FPGA hardware to such compute-intensive
problems has been hampered by poor communications bandwidth and high-latency
between the host system and the FPGA and by the size and capability
of the FPGA devices available.
The Accelerator Card by Celoxica HPC board has the following features:
The HyperTransport bus is the lowest-latency bus available
for communications between peripheral devices and a server's CPU.
The slot form-factor is an industry standard available
on many server motherboards, with standard BIOS support.
The HyperTransport interface to the host system offers
a real data rate of 1.2 GB/s in each direction.
The HyperTransport interface provides direct access to
the entire host system memory space. TheAccelerator can initiate data
transfer to the host memory as soon as data is available, without
having to buffer data on the
card.
FPGAs are intrinsically low-power. Even when processing
a fully-loaded network or running a CDO pricer 14x faster than the
host CPU, the Accelerator Card consumes less than 10 Watts.
The Accelerator Card uses
Xilinx Virtex-4 FPGAs, offering a large amount of configurable logic,
advanced dedicated arithmetic units and high clock speeds.
